Blencathra and the Stone Circle
This painting started life as a landscape back drop. I created it for Penrith Art Clubs "Great Still Life Challenge" which was to emulate one of Georgia O'Keffee's works of art. I changed the hill range to that of a recongnisable Cumbrian landscape and added the stone circle after the challenge. I enjoyed painting this as it didn't take me as long as my previous paintings, and also I was able to feel less constrained. I only drew the outline of the hills on the big canvas, the rest was free hand.
