Ohara Koson is a Japanese painter and printmaker born as Ohara Mato in 1877 and died in 1945. Ohara was taught by Susuki Kason, which is who people seem to think he changed his name for. But he also changed his name to Shoson and Hoson , confusing I know! Ohara is renowned as the best bird and flower print maker in the twentieth century.
Not sure which of his block prints/paintings is my favourite but I do love these.
MONGOZO The exotic beer Coconut 3.6%
Well I popped the cap to be hit with a white foamy head creeping up the neck of the bottle (been laid down in the fridge for awhile) I'm also smacked in the nose with coconut – not sure if I have opened a bottle of Malibu?! I love the milky blonde colour that has a frothy white head. No malt smell though slightly different smell is in the background.
Wow the beer does taste of Coconut with diluted malt juices (although its not a taste I recognise) and fizzes a little on my tongue. It is sweet and it is strange, it is also one that will divide opinion. I think I like this, but, one is enough for me tonight, I will have to go back and revisit it. This beer is certainly different.
The strange taste (not a malt taste like I was expecting) is quite possibly the Quinoa they used to brew this beer. And the best thing about this beer is that all the ingredients are Fairtrade.
Check out the Exotic tastes they produce and find out more about Mongozo here.
They are on Twitter too.
Jethro Tull is the flower of the week. OK I know Jethro Tull is British rock band and I haven't gotten confused. We saw this plant at a garden we visited awhile back and whilst My Man liked the fluted Golden Yellow flowers I was attracted to the name and then the flower.
It's Latin name is Coreopsis but, it is also known as a Tick seed. The name comes from two Greek words Koris – bug and Opsis – tick/bug which refers to the shape of the seed. It likes full sun and doesn't mind the occasional dry spell, which is probably why it is doing well in our pot. I've read that it's great for beginners at gardening. Please take it on good authority since buying this flower, it hasn't looked close to death once. We chopped the flowers off when they were at the end of their life and a couple of week later we now have a full bloom again. Apparently ‘Jethro Tull’is a hybrid cross of Coreopsis auriculata 'Zamfir' (female parent) and Coreopsis lanceolata 'Early Sunrise' (male parent).

My nickname has nothing to do with any alcoholic measure. It is however all about a friend deciding one day whilst my hair was in plaits I looked like Laura Ingalls in 'The Little House on the Prairie'. She too was a Tomboy and a little short.
