The Jungle Painting Series
Click on the painting to learn more about it
Henri Rousseau was a French artist who was born in 1844 and died in 1910. Rousseau was self taught and had never seen a Jungle, much like myself.
Throughout this series of paintings you will find each jungle painting is linked by one or more of the animals. The Jungle paintings also are not botanically correct as there maybe a flower, tree, and or, an animal that you wouldn't normally find in that type of a Jungle.
I outline every part of my painting as I think it makes the colours and object sing out. It wasn't till very recently that I found the below quote by Rousseau which I feel rings true of my style...
“If you remove these lines in the painting, the colours are no longer effective ”
