![]() ART Wow is what I say every time I see this lady's work. I found her on Twitter through a fellow crafty persons (The Cary Made) Re-Tweet awhile ago. Who's work is also great! I've decided to introduce you to Lucy Levenson, as her work fitted nicely with my Musings post. There are so many awesome artists I've found since joining Twitter, so inspirational and encouraging of one another. But I chose Lucy because she does something a little different to what I have been showcasing to you recently. And to what I normally like. ![]() Just imagine living in an old Pub, now imagine working in the pub's cellar, somewhere dark, dank and cold. Nah, I bet it's not like that at all. I imagine Lucy's work space to be bright, breezy, warm, inviting, colourful and full of Images and strips/swatches of material that inspire her to create such lovely pieces of work. The Photo's above are pieces of material sewn together to create lovely fairytale pictures. Want to learn more about what Lucy does – here you go and here's Lucy's Twitter page ![]() Maybe you are a sewer, looking for inspiration to start something new and to do something with them off cuts of material you've been saving in that box for awhile. Go create and send me a link. ![]() BEER in a CAN! Purity Longhorn IPA 5.0% Why the Longhorn? Well you see that cow on the can, every time you drink this beverage on draft, in a can or bottle you are helping to feed a herd of them. And for that I'm already happy with this beer as it is another brewer who helps the farmers around them (we do this too at Eden Brewery Ltd). A hoppy citrus and a very light vanilla aroma is what I'm getting. According to Purity it is Orange and Pear. (I've drank the whole can now so I can't go back and re smell). Remember I am new to this beer drinking lark. Even so, for me both descriptions would have attracted me to the can. The colour is lovely, a golden copper liquid which pours effortlessly into my glass. There you go, that last sentence made me sound like I'm an expert, didn't it? The taste is pretty much what I have smelt, there's a bit of sweet and bitter in there too. On Purity's Product description they say it's best served with spicy foods. Well as luck would have it I'm having a Korma with Coconut rice. Yummy to both! Definitely going back for a few more cans (don't tell the boss). I love that their brewery is based on a working farm. Read more about their beers, their ethos and where you can buy the beer from, by clicking here. ![]() COVERED IN WEEDS I love that Spring is starting to sprout in our garden. We don't have many plants as the garden isn't very big. So most of our things are in pots, I can move them around and create a different look each year. You may scream but what about the shade and sun. Well you see there is one constant patch of sun that falls in our garden all year round and that's on the small patio right outside the door, the rest is always in partial shade. I buy the flowers because I like them and worry about will it live in our garden later. Bit of tough love my plants get, none of the supposedly go indoors in the Winter plants ever do. I have a miniature Fuchsia plant and have had it for two winters now (should have been indoors) up until November it still had green on it. To be fair I wouldn't be surprised if it has died off this year it's been a long cold winter. We are trying to make a veg patch too, so a small corner of the lawn is going next week (hopefully). I feel like next we will be getting Hens and a AGA out of skip, but we are a long way off of becoming Tom and Barbara from The Good Life. The Alpine flower (photo) I bought last year from a plant fair at Hutton in the Forest with one dying back flower on it. But look it's got lots on it this spring and they appeared almost over night. Well I tell a lie I noticed a stem on the Sunday and by Tuesday it had three flowers appear on. Off to dig the potato patch later and before that see what purchases I can make at Lowther Castle and Gardens Plant Fair – maybe I should go supervised! ![]() Would you like a project to do over the next month? Well my Favourite Magazine The Simple Things has only gone a created a Living wall (photo). Here's the link on how to create it. Have fun. ![]() MUSINGS I started my art website back in November 2014. It seems such a long time ago since then. I joined Twitter at the same time and then created my Facebook art page. According to my host sites statistics more than half the visitors I get to my site return for more each week. I can only assume this is for the blog and not to see if my paintings have for sale signs on (they are, but I'm a bit slow in this area). It was My Man that suggested I did a website for my art. In true Halfpint style I did it when I felt like unleashing my work upon the world. The blog had been brewing for awhile. My friend 'M' was the boot up the derrière that I needed to get it all going. So Thanks 'M'! From Joining Twitter I have been introduced to many wonderous people of various talents. People that Inspire and create. People who share their lives through blogging. So here's my list of Thanks and why. Austin, was the first blogger I came across who didn't seem to take life too seriously, didn't have an hidden agenda and seems to be a down right nice guy. He lives in a Stephen King novel. Well not literally, just a 'House on the hill' in Maine. The first blog that drew me to him was about Pluto and I thought it was going to be a serious article and I was wrong. I love it when the devil comes to visit for tea too. Austin held a bloggers party last week, which he let me join in. So if you love to read blogs or are a Blogger head on over and maybe add your own. Susie appeared by accident at the same time I was submitting a blog with a #s, curiosity got the better of me and I clicked. It took me to #SundayBlogShare, which I could join in and I felt like I then had a platform to show my work and hope people read it. And from there came Vicky with #WeekendBlogHop, which is growing by the week. And then I saw another # in someone else's tweet with blog attached. After reading the blog I clicked on #MondayBlogs which is hosted by a writer Rachel Thompson. It does mainly have writers with there blogs, but I've found some excellent blogs on here too. Please let me suggest some people for you follow for their blogs. They are an eclectic mix of people, sharing Info, thoughts, trips and daftness. Don't forget the four people above. General Ruebi - Lancashire Hot Bot Danielle - Underland to Wonderland D.Parker - Yadadarcyyada Kelly Florentia - blog Rossye Petrova - Life with Rossye Jonny Two Hats - Enjoy the little things Travels Dallas Dyson - Crazy Train to Tinky town Paul Steele - Baldhiker Garden Benjamin Raynard - Higgledy Garden Emily Murphy - Past the Pistil Hoe & Hum - Blog Jo-Jo Yee - Fusian living Apologise to anyone I've missed. Do you have a blog you would like to share, one you have created or a link to someone else’s? Please pop it in the comments below ![]() Three tracks for you this week. They should get you bouncing. The first is The Libertines 'Can't stand me now' I used this track as a exercise ball work out for some children I coached awhile back. Which pretty much included bouncing on the ball in time to the music. They enjoyed it! The Fratellis 'Chelsea Dagger' was another fitness workout for the children this time it was for the step boxes. We had a right old giggle at me teaching and then starting to follow what one of the children was doing on the boxes. Lastly a new one by The Vaccines 'Handsome' Well hope you enjoyed my blog and song choices this week. Feel free to comment on anything in the box below. Have a great week and see you this time next week.
