Appleby Castle - Cumbria
If you have ever been to the castle you can not actually see the castle from the drive way (as I am looking at it in the painting) because of the stunning Cooper Birch trees and others that line either side of the driveway. This painting is an artistic impression. Many decades ago the castle used to have many types of animals, some of which were rare breeds. Black Swans and Flamingos were housed at the castle according to the Tour Guide. This painting is now finished and will be available to purchase in 2021. |
Bowscale Tarn - Tarn of the Immortal Fish
According to the poet Wordsworth there are two immortal fish in Bowscale Tarn, and one of them can speak according to legend and I'm not sure who started that one!?! The tarn back in the Victoria times used to be a popular tourist attraction. Victorian visitors were brought to the Tarn by pony to observe its wild and moody setting. "And both the undying fish that swim Through Bowscale-tarn did wait on him; The pair were servants of his eye. In their immortality; And glancing, gleaming, dark or bright, Moved to and fro, for his delight" |
