A BRIEF HISTORY IN MY TIME
Hello from a wheezy South Yorkshire lass born in the 70’s. To tackle the Asthma (which occasionally got very serious) I joined Rotherham Harriers Athletic Club and attempted every event. Pole Vaulting was the event I excelled in and was one of the female pioneers in the UK. My first GB vest was against Russia in Moscow, later breaking the Commonwealth record, then my wrist! My wrist was so badly shattered during the Northern Indoor Championships, I didn’t think I could come back, but I did, competing in Greece & later Spain, retiring in 2002 after 10 competitive years as a Pole Vaulter.
Art and gardening became a part of my life very early through the influence of my Grandparents, leading to me producing and selling my first painting. I returned to painting as therapy for my shattered wrist and created Jungle By Moonlight. I exhibited (and sold) from 2000-2003 at the Great Sheffield Art Show. After various jobs in Sports development I came to Penrith and had to try something new to earn a crust. Halfpint Chronicles documents my transition from sports development, brewer and then to a more sedate job, working in a castle. Joining Penrith Art Club and the Eden Valley Artistic Network has broadened my outlook, reinforced my core painting strength and thrown new challenges my way - Art, I love it. |
