 ART Check out this artist. Debra Esterhuizen isn't using a brush and paint, she's using felt. I saw her work in Cherrydidi in Keswick, a gallery showcasing different artist. Debra is elf (edit: lmao i meant self) taught and as well as using felt in her work she also uses silk, wool and other little embellishments. Eden Valley in Cumbria is where she now lives, but for several years she left the Peak District after her A-Levels and went to live In Tuscany (the lucky lady!). After returning back to the UK years later and staying for awhile teaching she got the travel itch and off to Asia she went. Nepal is were she discovered the ancient art of felt making.

So come and join me here  BEER Eden Brewery – Here Hare Beer 6.3% Military Strength IPA Some of you may know that Eden Brewery is the place where I work or more specifically brew the beer and any other job that crops up. So technically this bottle of beer was free! But I brewed it and worked hard for it! If you are not a regular to the blog I only review our beers once every so often. As I pop the lid I can smell a hint of caramel and in a breeze its gone and out pops the Admiral hops we added whilst it was fermenting nicely in the vat. A lightly spiced, orange citrus taste. If you drank it straight out of the bottle you would be forgiven for thinking it was a chestnut coloured beer, but, it's not, it is in fact a very light chestnut.  This recipe has been changed a few times, and I think this is the final tweek. So if you didn't like the beer last time you drank it (over eight months ago) then go back and try it again. This new batch is really lovely if I do say so myself. Out of all our beers I think this is my favourite so far, although the Embalmer is a close 2nd, and it is over a year ago I tried the RLF. This one like all the Withnail and I range could be drank to quickly and I'm afraid if I get up too quickly to drive for the remote I’ll be a sprawled mess across the coffee table. And here's our latest blog - not wrote by me, someone who is more competent and better with long words produces it. lol GARDEN The little garden we have is staring to look good now. Lots of things popping up. We have an Oriental Poppy that seems to have popped up again in the same place. Except I think it's bigger than last year. It is at the base 55mm in diameter, there's at least 10 poppy heads that are waiting to bloom. It is definitely 4ft tall and we have had to cut away some of the leaves at the bottom so the plants behind wont get suffocated. As soon as it blooms I'll share a photo. The Californian poppies (think that's what they are called) have been looking great since mid May and everyday it seems like a new one pops up in the same clump.
Pear and cherry watch is coming on nicely although the cherries haven't started to turn red yet. Hardly surprising really we haven't had bucket loads of sun. The Gooseberry bush has lovely little green gems dangling. And the surprise is the Blueberries I bought from B&Q. I didn't think we would get flowers this year let alone fruit. I think finally this year (so far) I've managed to keep things alive, put the Prosecco in the fridge and we'll have a toast! MUSINGS - Take That and confess! I've never really spoken about the bands i've been into over the years (and still am), but, I feel at this moment I need to list a few. David Bowie, Suede, Placebo, Clash, Sex Pistols, in my time I've also been a fan of Erasure and A-ha. I currently like Caro Emerald and oddly the tunes from the TV show Nashville. I kept it quiet from my friends for over 6months that I had mentioned to another that actually I wouldn't mind seeing Take That live and off we trotted to get a ticket. So from a none fan (ok I like Robbie – I have his albums) here's my review of the gig.  It was odd turning up to The Sheffield Arena after all these years. Attercliffe has changed a lot in the last 12 years. For some stupid reason I was expecting to see teenage girls queuing up and getting all giddy but all I saw was 30 somethings dragging their partners along. Clearly I still had the wrong idea about this band. But I went with an open mind. I tweeted Gary Barlow and Mark Owen when I was inside stating that they had better be as good as the Sex Pistols. Ella Henderson was the warm up act, much to my Mans disappointment. Ella was pretty good and whilst most of the crowd were paying attention and politely clapping at the songs from the album the rest were clearly here for Take That. I only recognised two tunes and she belted them out like a good un! Although the graphics on the big screen were OK it would have been better if they put more of Ella on it, for the fans of hers at the back.  Whilst the Sex Pistols know how to incite a riot prior to stage entrance, TT know how to, after all these years make the girls, or ladies in this case, scream! Even I was getting slightly excited as the buzz of the crowd grew. I knew two thirds of the songs they played and admittedly stood up, clapped and sang to them. To say they are late thirty somethings or maybe 40ish? They still can move about and own the stage. At one point Mark threw his t shirt/jacket into the circle, the camera panned to the girl who caught it and she was crying! Blimey who knew TT still could make grown women cry.  I'm not really sure how to describe the gig cause I can only remember so much of it. So the more memorable bits where the pyrotechnics on one (two?) of the songs. The heat I felt from quite a way away. The inner circle guys who must have paid a fortune for the privilege had heatstroke (maybe), glittered all over, smoked out and finally had a big white sheet draped over them. The under the sea creatures were great and I loved how they transformed the stage from one section to another to get them on. A big white curtain was drawn around the stage and as we waited a Shadow stick puppet show started to play on the curtain. But I would say the most memorable was the expression type of dance that Mark and Howard did throughout one of the slower songs. It was actually quite moving and unexpected. They played quite a lot of their old tunes which I was glad they recognised the fans that had taken them on their journey. They even sat and sang Back for good (can't remember if it was this one lol) on stools which according to Mark was '........The first time we have done this since last night!'  I have to say I actually enjoyed the gig, and surprised I know the words to the songs. Gary, Mark and Howard you may have just coaxed me into buying one of your albums!
